The bells on Mt. Popa ring with the wind in honour of the 37 Nats, or spirits that are represented here.
At the top of steep steps the stupas are seen for miles amidst the quite mist that floats by as the bells chime in the wind, calling to the ancient forces that are believed to reside in the landscape.
Located in the Mandalay region approximately 50 km SE of Bagan, the volcanic mountain remains an important pilgrimage site for the local people who come to pay their respects to the Nat temples and relics that reside here.
